With a number of players missing, Windsor defeats Guelph 5-1.
Cam Fowler started the scoring off as he put one away while being on the power play. James Woodcraft would score his first of the year and give Windsor the 2-0 lead. But Michael Latta would cut that lead in half as he roofed one in the dying seconds of the period.
Limited action in the second as Guelph applied the majority of the pressure but were unsuccessful in trying to tie the game up.
The Spits owned the third period as Taylor Hall potted two including an empty netter and Eric Wellwood added a goal as Windsor went on to defeat Guelph 5-1.
Stephen Johnston made his Windsor debut tonight. He looked a little rusty at first but he started to settle down a little bit later. Windsor is going to have to give Johnston time to fit in with the team and allow him to get back into playing his style of game.
Stephen Johnston explains to In Play! his thoughts on his return.
“In the first period I was just trying to get my legs back and trying to figure out the system.”
Hall is tonight's In Play! Magazine player of the game as he had two goals and two assists and was a plus four on the ice. Those few games of rest looked like they helped as Hall was dangling and flying up and down the wings.
Hall tells In Play!, “When I'm a rested player I can play at the top of my game.”
Windsor will travel to London tomorrow night to play a huge rival game against the Knights. Game time will start at 7:30 p.m.
