Richard Panik scores the game winner for the Spitfires as they beat the Otters 3-1 at home.
Erie scored the first one of the game as Greg McKegg put home the rebound on the power play. Eric Wellwood answered back with a goal of his own on a pass from Dale Mitchell. Spitfire Harry Young and Erie's Shawn Szydlowski then dropped the gloves. Young was given the decision of the fight.
Panik, of Windsor, scored the lone goal in the second period to give the Spits a 2-1 lead.
Mitchell capitalized on a rebound early in the third to add insurance to their lead and seal up the victory. The Windsor Spitfires doubled Erie in shots 50-24.
This has been the 23rd game in a row that the Spitfires have ended up with at least one point for their team.
The Spitfires will lose some of their team as they will have a few of their players leave for World Junior camps. This was their last game before leaving.
Tonight's In Play! Magazine player of the game goes to Dale Mitchell. Mitchell set-up Wellwood on the Spits first goal. He also scored the third goal to give the Spits a two goal lead and the win.
Mitchell explains his goal to In Play! “I just got the puck passed to me right on my stick and put it in the back of the net.”
