Oshawa upsets Windsor

The Oshawa Generals took Windsor into a shootout and pulled off the win 5-4.

After a slow first period, the Spits started off the scoring as Ryan Ellis riffled one from the point. However, the Generals answered back with two quick ones both from Alain Berger. But Taylor Hall brought the Spits back into it with a goal of his own to tie it up. Conor Stokes would add one more for Oshawa to send them into the third with the lead.

Windsor would have a fast start to the third period as Kenny Ryan tipped a shot in and then Hall would snipe a shot past Kevin Bailie for his second of the game to take a 4-3 lead. In the dying minutes of the period, Berger sent Christian Thomas on a break away and he would blast a slap shot past Troy Passingham to tie the game and send it to overtime.

Plenty of chances but no goals in overtime as both tenders would come up with some huge saves sending this game to a shootout.

In the shootout, both Thomas and Dale Mitchell scored their shots to make it 1-1 going into round two. Calvin de Haan and Taylor Hall would leave the score where it was as they both got denied. It came down to the final shooters for both teams as Andy Andreoff was clutch to steal the win and end the Spits winning streak.

It seems Passingham was getting tired as he played back to back nights. Yesterday he traveled to Peterborough and allowed five goals and tonight he went to Oshawa and allowed four. It may be time to give him a few days off.

Tonight's In Play! Magazine player of the game has to go to Alain Berger of Oshawa. Berger assisted on the game tying goal that sent this game to overtime and he also contributed two goals in his teams win.

The Spits will be back home for a 7pm start Thursday night to take on the Erie Otters.
