(Windsor) In conjunction with Hockey Canada, the Windsor Spitfires are proud to announce that forwards Taylor Hall, Adam Henrique, Greg Nemisz and defenceman Ryan Ellis have all been named to Team Canada’s 22-man final roster for the 2010 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships, to be hosted in Saskatoon and Regina, Saskatchewan from December 26, 2009 – January 5, 2010. Hall, Nemisz and Henrique will be making their first appearances in the World Junior Championships, with Ryan Ellis making his second straight appearance at the tournament after having won a gold medal with Canada at the World Juniors last year.

After being cut from last year’s selection camp, Taylor Hall registered five points in three exhibition games. First year invite Adam Henrique scored two goals in three exhibition games with Greg Nemisz, also in his first year at the main camp, scored two goals and recorded five points in three exhibition games as well. Ellis recorded one goal and one assist in two exhibition games.
“It’s a great day for the organization; much of the credit has to go to the coaching they received in Windsor which helped their overall development. They are all proven winners and we wish them all the best in this prestigious tournament,” said Windsor Spitfires Vice-President and General Manger Warren Rychel.
The team will practice for the next few days before taking to the ice for their first pre-tournament game on Sunday against Sweden. The game will be broadcast on TSN2 at 8 pm EST.
The 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship tournament starts on December 26th as Canada faces Latvia in their first game. The game will be broadcast live on TSN/RDS and The Fan Radio Network (check local listings).
Canada is looking to win its sixth consecutive World Junior title and has medaled at eleven straight IIHF World Junior Championships including gold medal performances in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009, silver medals in 1999, 2002, 2003 and 2004 and bronze medals in 2000 and 2001.
