(Windsor) Right-winger Zack Kassian is the Windsor Spitfires Player of the Week as selected by the Spitfires coaching staff for the week ending Sunday, March 28th, 2010. In two games last week, Kassian scored one goal and added four assists for five points with a +2 plus-minus rating in helping lead the Windsor Spitfires to a four game sweep of the Erie Otters in the Western Conference Quarterfinal series for the 2010 OHL Playoffs.
On Tuesday, Kassian scored one goal and registered an assist as he was named the Penalty Box’s Third Star of Game in Windsor’s 7-6 Game three victory over Erie at the WFCU Centre. On Thursday, he posted three assists and was selected as the Second Star of the Spitfires’ 5-1 Game four win over the Otters in Erie, which secured a series victory for Windsor.
Kassian, a 19 year-old native of LaSalle, Ontario, was selected by the Buffalo Sabres with their first round pick, 13th overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Windsor Spitfires in a trade with the Peterborough Petes this past January and is in his first season with the Spitfires. Kassian has scored two goals with four assists for six points and a +3 rating in four playoff games with Windsor. During the regular season, he scored four goals in five games with a +1 rating as a member of the Spitfires.
Catch the action as the Spitfires defend their 2009 MasterCard Memorial Cup and OHL Championship! Windsor will face the Plymouth Whalers at the WFCU Centre in Game one of their best of seven Western Conference Semi-Final series for the 2010 OHL Playoffs this Thursday. Game time is set for 7:05 pm.
