The Spitfires take a commanding 2-0 lead over the Erie Otters as they defeated them today 3-1.
The Erie Otters started the game off by applying a lot of pressure on Windsor in the first. But with help from Philipp Grubauer, Windsor was able to keep the game tied until Taylor Hall deflected Marc Cantin's shot late in the period to take a 1-0 lead.
In the second, Zack Torquato was able to find the back of the net and tie the game at one. With the Erie fans screaming loud, Dale Mitchell found a way to silence them as he rifled a shot in and would send the Spits with the lead going into the third.
With scoring opportunities going back and forth in the third, Grubauer remained solid long enough for Hall to pot his second of the game and give the Spits the win.
Today's In Play! Magazine player of the game goes to Grubauer for his amazing performance. He had 30 saves on 31 shots and really held Windsor in it. There were a lot of times where Erie should have taken the lead, but Grubauer was able to hold on to the lead and help the Spitfires take a 2-0 lead in the series. He played the way a goalie should play in the playoffs and that's exactly what Windsor needs.
Windsor will host Erie at the WFCU Centre on Tuesday. Game three will start at 7 p.m.

- With today’s win, Windsor takes a 2-0 series lead over Erie in the best of seven game Western Conference Quarterfinal
- Forward Dale Mitchell scored the game winning goal with less than three minutes left in the second period and was selected as the game’s first star
- Forward Taylor Hall scored two goals in the contest and was selected as the game’s second star
- Goaltender Philipp Grubauer wins his second consecutive playoff start with Windsor, stopping 30 of 31 shots in the win
- Greg Nemisz and Saverio Posa missed the game due to injury
