(Windsor) Left-winger Taylor Hall is the Windsor Spitfires Player of the Week as selected by the Spitfires coaching staff for the week ending Sunday, February 28th, 2010. In three games last week, Hall scored two goals and added four assists for six points. He posted a +5 plus-minus rating as he led the CHL’s #3 ranked team to a 2-1 record.
This is the fifth time that Hall has been named the Spitfires Player of the Week this season. He was also selected as the OHL Player of the Month in October of 2009 as well as the CHL Player of the Week twice and the OHL Player of the Week on three occasions.
On Thursday, Hall scored one goal and posted one assist as the Spitfires defeated the Plymouth Whalers 6-3 at the WFCU Centre. On Friday, Hall scored one goal and added one assist in Windsor’s 7-3 road loss to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. He finished the week with a two assist performance, as the Spitfires defeated the Sudbury Wolves 6-0 in Sudbury yesterday afternoon.
Hall, an 18 year-old native of Kingston, Ontario, is the top rated prospect eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He has recorded at least one point in 24 of his past 25 games and is second overall in the OHL scoring race with 95 points in 54 games. Hall is tied for first in the OHL with 59 assists, tied for second in the league with four shorthanded goals, is fourth in the OHL with a +38 plus-minus rating and is also tied for seventh in the league with 36 goals.
Hall participated in two Subway Super Series games this past November and helped lead the OHL to a perfect 2-0 record versus Team Russia. He scored one goal with one assist en route to being named the player of the game for Team OHL at the WFCU Centre in Windsor’s Subway Super Series game on November 23rd, 2009. He also earned a silver medal as part of Team Canada during the 2010 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Saskatchewan and was tied for second in team scoring with 12 points in six games played.
Hall played on Team Cherry in the 2010 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game hosted at the WFCU Centre in Windsor. He assisted on the game winning goal and was chosen as the player of the game for Team Cherry which defeated Team Orr 4-2. Furthermore, he also played in the 2010 OHL All-Star Classic hosted in Sault Ste. Marie, recording one assist for the Western Conference all-star team.
The defending 2009 MasterCard Memorial Cup and OHL Champions will host the Saginaw Spirit this Thursday at the WFCU Centre.
