The Spitfires headed out on a big, three-game eastern road trip on Thursday, hoping a lineup with six new faces could gel quickly. And that's exactly what happened. Led by strong play from new winger Jake Carrick, the Spits beat Ottawa, Belleville and Kingston in a span of less than 48 hours.
Carrick had eight points on the trip; a huge performance that earned him Spitfires Player of the Week honours for the period ending Sunday, January 16th.
The 20-year-old Stouffville native had two goals and two assists, and was selected as the game’s second star in a 6-3 win in Ottawa on Friday night. Carrick followed up that performance with a goal and three assists en route to being selected as the game’s third star, in a convincing 10-2 win in Belleville the following night. Although he was held pointless in Kingston on Sunday afternoon, Carrick contributed with a strong physical game and some good work on the penalty kill.
His eight points and +6 rating also earned Carrick honourable mention for OHL Player of the Week honours.
Windsor’s next home game is this Thursday against the Brampton Battalion.
