Windsor's own Garrett Wilson scored the winner at 1:51 of overtime, giving the Owen Sound Attack a 4-3 win over the Windsor Spitfires on Sunday afternoon.
Goals by Ryan Ellis, Jake Carrick and Alexander Khokhlachev pulled the Spits even seven minutes into the third period after Wilson, Cameron Brace and Robby Magnardi had staked Owen Sound (29-15-0-2) to a 3-0 lead in a seven-minute span of the second.
The Spitfires failed to convert on a seven-minute power play early in the first period - which featured 63 minutes in penalties and took 50 minutes to play. And the missed opportunities proved costly, as Wilson beat Jack Campbell with a harmless looking wrister from the left circle to open the scoring at 4:11. Brace followed with his eighth of the year at 9:46, poking home a rebound before Campbell could smother it.
Mignardi's goal looked like a dagger at the time, as an attempted D-to-D pass by Michael MacIntyre turned into a gift, leaving him alone to beat Campbell at 11:11.
But Ellis' wrister through a crowd, Carrick's rebound goal and Khokhlachev's power play marker at 7:33 got the Spits back to even. It would be Windsor's only power play goal in 10 attempts on the day.
Each side had great chances through the rest of the third, both piling up 42 shots through regulation.
But just as the scoring opened, it ended up closing. A harmless looking wrister from Wilson - this time from the right circle - somehow eluded Campbell for the winner.
The Spits picked up a point for their efforts, but saw their five-game win streak snapped.
