In Play Magazine

(Windsor) The Windsor Spitfires today announced that right-winger Dale Mitchell will be returning to the Spitfires lineup this season after a stint with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Mitchell, a third round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2007 was instrumental in Windsor’s 2009 Memorial Cup Championship run. He single handedly rallied the Spitfires back from a 4-2 third period deficit against the hometown Rimouski Oceanic in the MasterCard Memorial Cup sudden death tiebreaker game, as he scored three consecutive goals in 3:33 and led the Spitfires to a 6-4 win over the Oceanic and a berth in the semi-finals.

Mitchell also enjoyed a productive regular season and OHL playoff run with the Spitfires in the 2008 – 2009 campaign, scoring 33 goals and 68 points in 68 regular season games along with 14 goals and 29 points in 20 playoff games, in helping the Spitfires capture the OHL playoff championship.

“The Windsor Spitfires are very pleased to welcome Dale Mitchell back to the team today. His addition solidifies an already strong corps of forwards on our team. Dale’s experience, energy, passion for the game and skill will be huge assets for us moving forward this season. We look forward to seeing Dale back on the ice,” commented Windsor Spitfires Vice-President and General Manager Warren Rychel.
