windsorspitfires.com staff reports

The Spitfires checking line pulled double-duty Thursday night, shutting down Ottawa's top line and producing a pair of goals as the Spitfires earned two big points in a 4-1 win over the 67's.

Stephen Johnston scored twice and earned first-star honours, while Jack Campbell was solid in goal, making 26 saves for the victory.

Jake Carrick and Tom Kuhnhackl had the other goals for the Spitfires (32-21-2-3), who moved two points ahead of the idle Plymouth Whalers for fourth place in the Western Conference.

The Spits will travel to the Soo to take on Greyhounds tomorrow at 7:30 pm. The game can be seen live on TVCOGECO or fans can tune into AM800 to catch the action with Spits Play-by-Play Man Mike Miller.

Sean Monahan had the only goal for Ottawa, which heads to Plymouth for a key match-up for the Whalers.
