The Windsor Spitfires are proud to announce that the Peter Thomson of Sun Life Financial and Spitfires Academic Player of the Month for January 2011 is defenceman Craig Duininck.
Peter Thomson and Sun Life Financial believe that education is the cornerstone of being a well rounded contributor to the community and are proud to sponsor the Spitfires Academic Player of the Month award. All players who win the award this season are integral members of the Spitfires on the ice but also great representatives off the ice through their commitment to their school work. The life of an OHL player is a busy one and Peter Thomson congratulates each player for succeeding on and off the ice at such a high level.
Duininck, a 17 year-old native of St. Cloud, MN is a grade 12 student at St. Anne’s High School in Lakeshore, ON and is eligible for this year’s NHL Entry Draft.
“Craig has established himself as an excellent student and team leader. He is well respected and liked by his Teachers and fellow students. He is a highly self motivated player on and off the ice and is a credit to the Windsor Spitfires and St. Anne’s High School. Craig has taken four courses in the first semester and has maintained a B+ average. We are proud to have such a fine young man be part of our hockey and school community,” said Windsor Spitfires Academic Advisor Dennis Gignac.
Prior to the commencement of a future Spitfires home game, Peter Thomson of Sun Life Financial will be presenting Craig with a $100 gift for his outstanding achievement.
