Robbie Czarnik's empty net goal turned out to be the winner, as the Plymouth Whalers clipped the Windsor Spitfires 4-3 in Michigan on Saturday night.
Jack Campbell made 42 saves and Jeff Brown scored twice for the Spitfires.
The win gave Plymouth a split of a key home-and-home series and pulled the Whalers back within a point of Windsor for fourth in the hotly-contested Western Conference.
The Spits trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes, but evened things up early in the second period on Derek Lanoue's sixth of the season.
James Livingston gave Plymouth the lead back before the period was out, before Tyler Brown made it 3-1 Whalers, batting home a rebound, five minutes into the third.
Jeff Brown cut the lead to 3-2 at the 16:16 mark. But the Spits couldn't find the equalizer with Campbell on the bench.
Czarnik's 30th of the season put Plymouth up a pair with less than a minute to play.
Jeff Brown scored with nine seconds to go to round out the scoring.
