Taylor Hall – The Precision Jewellers and Windsor Spitfires Player of the Month for March

(Windsor) Left-winger Taylor Hall is the Precision Jewellers and Windsor Spitfires Player of the Month for March as selected by the Windsor Spitfires coaching staff. Hall scored four goals and added seven assists for 11 points with a +7 plus-minus rating in three regular season games during the month of March to help the defending 2009 MasterCard Memorial Cup and OHL Champions secure the OHL’s Western Conference Regular Season Championship for the second consecutive season. He also scored six goals and registered four assists for 10 points with a +6 rating in the Spitfires’ four game sweep of the Erie Otters in the first round of the 2010 OHL Playoffs. This is Hall’s second Player of the Month award this season, as he was named the OHL and Precision Jewellers Player of the Month for October of 2009.

Hall posted multi-point performances in each of the seven games that he played in March and scored at least one goal in six of these games, including a two-goal, three assist outing against the Saginaw Spirit on March 4th. Additionally, he had three point games against the Sault. Ste Marie Greyhounds on March 7th, the Plymouth Whalers on March 11th and against the Erie Otters on March 18th and March 23rd.

Hall finished as the co-leader in the OHL’s scoring race during the regular season with 106 points in 57 games. He became the first Spitfire to lead the OHL in scoring since Peter Sarno’s 121 point season in 1997-1998. He also became the first Spitfire to score 100 or more points in a season since Kyle Wellwood’s enjoyed a 100 point season for the Spitfires in 2002-2003 season. Furthermore, Hall finished first in the OHL with 66 assists, second in the league with a +46 plus-minus rating, tied for second in the OHL with four shorthanded goals and seventh in the OHL with 40 goals.

Hall, an 18 year-old native of Kingston, Ontario, is the top rated prospect eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He participated in two Subway Super Series games this past November and helped lead the OHL to a perfect 2-0 record versus Team Russia. He scored one goal with one assist en route to being named the player of the game for Team OHL at the WFCU Centre in Windsor’s Subway Super Series game on November 23rd, 2009. He also earned a silver medal as part of Team Canada during the 2010 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Saskatchewan and was tied for second in team scoring with 12 points in six games played.

Hall played on Team Cherry in the 2010 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game hosted at the WFCU Centre in Windsor. He assisted on the game winning goal and was chosen as the player of the game for Team Cherry which defeated Team Orr 4-2. Furthermore, he also played in the 2010 OHL All-Star Classic hosted in Sault Ste. Marie, recording one assist for the Western Conference all-star team.

Hall will receive a Bulova watch, courtesy of Dan Thomas from Precision Jewellers for his outstanding performance in March.
