Spitfires’ Game Notes – Rogers Western Conference Championship Series, Game Two
- With tonight’s 5-2 loss to the Rangers in Kitchener, Windsor now trails the series two games to none and has lost their first road playoff game of the 2010 post-season. This is also the first time that Windsor has lost two consecutive games in the OHL’s post-season since the 2008 Playoffs, when the Sarnia Sting defeated the Windsor Spitfires in games four and five as the Sting won the Western Conference Quarterfinal series in five games.
- Windsor’s two goals tonight was the team’s lowest offensive output of the 2010 Playoffs.
- Windsor outshot Kitchener 50-41 in the game and 115-76 in the series. However, Kitchener has outscored the Spitfires 12-8 in the series.
- Defenceman Ryan Ellis registered two assists in the game. Ellis is ranked first amongst all OHL defencemen, and is second on the Spitfires and is ranked sixth in league scoring as he has posted 19 points in 10 games. He also leads all defencemen and is third in the league with 17 assists. Ellis has recorded points in each of the Spitfires ten playoff games and is tied for second in the OHL for points in consecutive playoff games.
- Forward Taylor Hall extended his point streak to ten consecutive games tonight and was named the third star of the game, as he scored Windsor’s second goal of the game. He is tied with teammate Ryan Ellis for the second longest point streak in the league. Hall is first in the OHL with a +13 plus-minus rating in the playoffs. He is also tied for second in the OHL with ten goals and leads the Spitfires in points while being ranked fifth in the league with 20 points in the playoffs.
- Forward Adam Henrique scored Windsor’s first goal of the game and has scored a goal in four of his past five playoff games. Henrique is ranked second on the Spitfires in goals scored with seven and third on the team with 11 points in ten games.
- Goaltender Philipp Grubauer lost his second consecutive game and first during regulation time for Windsor in the playoffs tonight, stopping 33 of 38 shots faced in the contest.
- Windsor was held without a power play goal for the second consecutive game, as they came up empty on only one opportunity tonight.
- Windsor allowed three goals on Kitchener’s eight power play opportunities and the Rangers have outscored the Spitfires on special teams five goals to none after two games.
- Forward Stephen Johnston returned to the lineup tonight after missing five playoff games due to injury, he did not record a point in the contest.
