In Play Magazine

(Windsor) Overage centre Scott Timmins is the Windsor Spitfires Player of the Week as selected by the Spitfires coaching staff for the week ending Sunday, April 11th, 2010. In two games last week, Timmins scored one goal and added one assist, while shutting down Plymouth’s top scoring lines. With his performance, Timmins led the Windsor Spitfires to a four game sweep of the Plymouth Whalers in the Western Conference Semi-Finals of the 2010 OHL Playoffs. This is the third time in the 2009-2010 campaign that Timmins has secured the team’s player of the week honour.

On Monday, Timmins registered one assist with a +1 rating in Windsor’s 5-0 Game three victory over Plymouth at the WFCU Centre. On Thursday, he scored the game winning and series clinching goal 6:50 into overtime as the Spitfires defeated the Whalers 3-2 in Game four on the road in Plymouth.

Timmins, a 20 year-old native of Hamilton, Ontario was selected by the Florida Panthers in the sixth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He is in his second season with the Spitfires and scored 30 goals with 24 assists for 54 points with a +28 plus-minus rating in 56 regular season games. During the post-season, Timmins has three goals and three assists for six points and a +3 rating in eight games.

The defending 2009 MasterCard Memorial Cup and OHL Champions will host the London Knights or the Kitchener Rangers this Thursday in Game one of the Rogers Western Conference Championship Series at the WFCU Centre. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.

Spitfire fans are encouraged to wear red for each Spitfire home game during the playoffs as part of the Spits “CODE RED!” theme for the 2010 OHL Playoffs.
