BATEMAN'S FIRST GOAL LIFTS SPITS TO SWEEP

Adam Bateman's first career OHL goal was a huge one in Brampton.

The rookie Spitfires defenceman scored the game's only goal at of overtime, lifting the club to a 1-0 win over the Battalion. The win completed a weekend sweep that included wins over Plymouth and Erie.

John Cullen was outstanding in goal, stopping all 28 pucks he faced for his second win and first shutout of the season.

By earning six points this weekend, the Spitfires are tied with the Sarnia Sting for top spot in the West Division and Western Conference.

Next up: The Spitfires host the Kitchener Rangers on Thursday night at the WFCU Centre.
