On Thursday, Ellis scored one goal and added two assists as the Spitfires defeated the Kitchener Rangers 6-2 at the WFCU Centre. The following night, he registered one assist in Windsor’s 4-2 road win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and on Saturday, he also recorded one assist in the Spitfires’ 7-2 road loss to the Saginaw Spirit.

Ellis, a 19 year-old native of Freelton, Ontario was selected by the Nashville Predators in the first round, 11th overall at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Ellis was also named as the captain for Team OHL and led the OHL to a perfect 2-0 record in the 2009 Subway Super Series games hosted in Barrie, ON and Windsor, ON earlier this season. He was also selected to serve as an assistant captain for Team Canada at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Saskatchewan and helped Canada earn a silver medal in the tournament. Ellis is in his third season with the Spitfires and is ranked sixth amongst OHL defensemen in scoring with 48 points in 40 games while being tied for tenth in OHL with a +29 plus-minus rating this season. He is also in the midst of an eleven game point streak, which ties him for the longest point streak posted by an OHL defenseman this year.
The defending 2009 MasterCard Memorial Cup and OHL Champions will host the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors this Thursday at the WFCU Centre. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. The Windsor Spitfires will be honouring their “Captain Forever” Mickey Renaud at the game by way of special pre-game tributes.
