Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that forward Taylor Hall of the Windsor Spitfires is the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 25. Hall led the league in scoring with six goals and four assists for 10 points in three games with a plus-minus rating of plus-7.
Hall began his week on Thursday night with the first of his two consecutive four-point games. The Spitfires defeated conference rivals the London Knights 5-2 with Hall named the game’s first star scoring two goals including a shorthanded marker. He also contributed two assists, both on goals by Adam Henrique including the game-winner at 10:07 of the opening frame. Hall followed that up by scoring a goal in all three periods Friday night in Owen Sound for his second hat-trick of the season. He added an assist in the 8-4 win over the Attack and was named first star of the game for the second straight night. He finished his week Sunday at home with a power play goal and one assist for two points as third star of the game in a 6-1 win over the Belleville Bulls.
Hall, a 17-year-old from Kingston, ON, is playing in his third season with the Spitfires. He currently leads the OHL in scoring with 34 points including 16 goals and 18 assists in 16 games. Hall is eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Honourable mention for the award this week goes to Taylor Beck of the Guelph Storm and Devante Smith-Pelly of the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors. Beck finished the week with seven points including three goals and four assists in three games, while Smith-Pelly had a four-goal game as first star Friday night in a 7-4 win over the Ottawa 67’s. In goal, Matt Hackett of the Plymouth Whalers won two games including a shutout victory with 42 saves as first star in a 2-0 win over the Kitchener Rangers on Friday.
