windsorspitfires.com staff reports
When Spitfires General Manager Warren Rychel acquired Adrian Robertson from Peterborough back at the trade deadline, he knew he was getting a dependable defenceman and another valuable veteran presence for a playoff run.
But no one could have predicted what he's gotten from the 19-year-old blueliner at the offensive end of the ice.
Outstanding all-around play has earned Robertson Tecumseh and South Walkerville Vision Centres Windsor Spitfires Player of the Week honours for the period ending Sunday April 3rd.
Robertson played an incredible stretch of four games last week, notching two goals, six assists and a team leading +9 rating, as the Spitfires battled the Erie Otters in their opening round series.
On Monday, March 28th, Robertson had two assists and was +2, in a 6-2 win in Game Three. Two nights later, in Erie, he had another pair of assists and was +3, as the Spits took a 7-4 decision at the Tullio Arena in Erie.
In Game Five at the WFCU Centre, Robertson continued his hot offensive play, with a goal, an assist and a +1 rating in a 6-5 overtime loss. Robby capped his huge week with another outstanding performance in Game Six, scoring a late third period goal to force overtime, while adding an assist and a +3 rating.
Overall, Robertson had two goals, seven assists and a +9 rating, helping the Spitfires squeeze past the Otters in seven games.
The entire staff at Tecumseh and South Walkerville Vision Centres congratulates Adrian on a fantastic week.
The Windsor Spitfires will be selling tickets for home games one and two of their round two playoff series against the Saginaw Spirit tomorrow morning (April 7) starting at 10AM for Spitfire Season Ticket Holders and at noon for the general public. Home games one and two will be played at the WFCU Centre on Sunday, April 10th at 2:05 pm and on Thursday, April 14th at 7:05 pm respectively.
Fans are encouraged to wear red for each Spitfire home game as part of the Spits “Mission 9-10-11” theme for the 2011 OHL Playoffs.
