Webermin Named the OHL West Division Academic and Peter Thomson of Sun Life Financial Spitfires Academic Player of the Month for February
The OHL and Windsor Spitfires are proud to announce that the OHL’s West Division Academic and Peter Thomson of Sun Life Financial Spitfires Academic Player of the Month for February 2011 is defenceman Grant Webermin.
Peter Thomson and Sun Life Financial believe that education is the cornerstone of being a well rounded contributor to the community and are proud to sponsor the Spitfires Academic Player of the Month award. All players who win the award this season are integral members of the Spitfires on the ice but also great representatives off the ice through their commitment to their school work. The life of an OHL player is a busy one and Peter Thomson congratulates each player for succeeding on and off the ice at such a high level.
Webermin, 16, a native of Novi, Michigan is currently attending St. Anne High School in Windsor.
“Grant has completed successfully his first four courses and has achieved an A average. He has become a well respected student athlete by his Teachers and peers. Grant constantly strives to do his best and has been a role model since arriving here from Michigan. The Spitfire family is proud to have such an outstanding young man be part of our organization and wish him continued success in his second semester,”commented Spitfire Academic Advisor Dennis Gignac. Grant was a first round selection of the Spitfires in the 2010 Priority Selection.
Prior to the commencement of the Spitfires recent March 6th home game against the Guelph Storm, Peter Thomson of Sun Life Financial presented Grant with a $100 gift for his outstanding achievement.
