(Windsor) Windsor Spitfires Vice-President and General Manager Warren Rychel today announced that the team has acquired left-winger Brendan McCann from the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors.
McCann, a 17 year-old native of Belle River, Ontario is listed at 6’0” and 175 pounds. Last season, he split time with the Majors as well as the Dixie Bee Hives Tier 2 of the OJHL. In exchange, the Spitfires have sent over their 11th round pick in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection to the Majors.
“Brendan is a local boy who skates well and plays a gritty game. I’ve known him for many years as he came up through the Sun County Panthers AAA program and know that he will be a great addition to our team. We are happy to bring back a hard working player to the local area,” said Warren Rychel.
Brendan will continue his studies at St. Anne’s High School in Lakeshore, ON.
The Spitfires have an excellent track record in acquiring players from the local area such as Harry Young, Eric Wellwood, Zack Kassian and Derek Lanoue, all key contributors to the Spitfire successes.
